We spent Christmas wandering in tee shirts...mas or menos....dined on a great leg of pork with ginger green beans, etc. You canNOT herd cats and you can't get all my family members going in the same direction MOST of the time but they can make a tasty dinner when they manage to get together on it. Being here for the month of December I enjoyed missing most of the commercial wing-ding of the U.S. Christmas "season". I've gotten to be a humbug guy anyway.

We spent two days in Honduras at the ruins of Copan. Folks from all around there to see them as well. Germany, Australia, Japan, England, Spain, Canada, and the U.S. A young man in his first year of med school in Austin TX engaged me in a conversation in spanish....I pointed out to him it was the blind leading the blind but he seemed undaunted. He did pretty well considering he'd only been ten days back in Antigua at one of the many language schools. Nice kid, outgoing which is what I prefer in folks, I confess being mostly outgoing myself...in a family of damn near hermits. Yesterday morning found me on a street corner in Honduras having a conversation in spanish with a coupla ladies from Japan. Spanish becomes the common denominator in speaking to so many folks who may or may not have no or little english. My horizons have been broadened for sure.

Pictures will speak better than I can about Copan and the Mayans who lived there to about 800 A.D. I'm no historian so......film at eleven...in January.

I will say this about the entire family of seven folks being here at once......it puts a strain on family relationships. Old baggage from youth for some and not yet dealt with, new notions about what is what and where and when on the part of all here, the herding cats phenomenon, the peculiarities each direct family member and the current "spousal units" bring to the table.......it's a good thing we don't all live together. May I say an Amen.

I know this all ain't got nuttin' to do with sailing and cruising...I apologize to any whose noses are out of joint because I'm effectively blogging here and surely oughta be somewhere else. In my defense...I don't know no better and don't have the skills nor time and skills to figure it out at this time. If I coulda got my TSBB straightened out I'da done this there where it's more acceptable. Thank you for your patience with me.
