Interesting to read the description of the hull structure: "plastics stem, keel, deadwood, side planking". It's like they are describing a wooden boat.
Growing up in Holland, I remember a number of small boats, built locally mainly for export to the US market, like the Rhodes Meridian, Tripp's Sailmaster 26 and S&S Sailmaster 22. I see some of them still sailing here on the East Coast. The UK was late in the adoption of fiberglass, unlike the Netherlands, where designers such as Rikus Van de Stadt were already building "modern" designs in fiberglass in the late 50s and early 60s, using the possibilities that fiberglass allowed, instead of adapting a design of a wooden boat.
Many of these older designers, Alden, Rhodes, S&S, were true artists. Not many contemporary designers are able to match their aesthetic skills. I am glad that there are still so many of these older boats around and that there are owners willing to spend the time to maintain them. That's certainly one of the reasons I spend most summers in Maine and New England.
