Unfortunately, one of our 25 Y.O. water tanks sprung a leak last summer while in HI. We fill it about 3/4 full and it is OK. I think a top seam weld has cracked after thousands of oil canning events (every fill). The setee and setee back will have to come out. Not looking forward to it. I have the 44 ft version of Max's boat so the carpentry is similar.
Yesterday my also 25 Y.O. hot water heater sprung a leak. I had a patch welded onto it two years ago. The glass lining was completely gone. There is a magnesium anode that is supposed to be checked annually. To check the anode the heater must be removed from it's locker - a multi-hour job.
So this time I knew I had to replace it. I had to buy the same one again because the cabinetry was built to fit that one heater model. Fortunately, the company (Torrid) is in Seattle. I ordered it from an out of state dealer to save the sales tax and had it drop shipped. It arrived this morning and it is installed.
Old boats can be a real PITA.
