Typical old style boat on Lake Atitlán.

Until 20 years ago there were no motor boats, all the boats were like this one and paddled, not rowed, according to the capatain/guide on the motor boat we rented for the day.

The boats like this I saw close up had bottoms of sort of half dugout style with rough side planks nailed on. The bows of the boats are just straight planks forming an uplifted vee with the dugout bottom shaped accordingly in that area. I lament no close up pics.
