The problem is he is not using a com port.... but a USB port...
It still get assigned a Com Port, Doesn't it.
USB by it's nature is generally plug and play...
Sometimes USB Devices are assigned Com Ports
..or possibly in this case it is defaulting as an HID (human interface device)
