Is a Belkin model. Check to see if your adapter has i) it's own drivers properly installed and updated; and ii) there are drivers for categories of SOME devices that (hopefully) will make the system work.

Killing the "phantom" pointing device probably will work; however, there should be a more permanent solution

The serial input (if you had one on your machine) clearly would be addressable -- but that has been become a lagacy device ;^)
