Not just about VD

Larry it's not just about voltage drop it is about the crimped fitting that is sized to the proper crimp die and terminal. While not a huge issue if you nick off a few strands of 10GA when using it in a yellow terminal, because that is the largest wire that will fit in a yellow, but when you start nicking strands off a 12GA, the smallest GA for a yellow terminal, you've now lost some integrity in the crimped fitting because it is properly sized for the 12 AWG wire not 12GA missing 20 strands because a sloppy stripper was used.... If you already started with cheap crimpers you may not even be able to make a crimped fitting that meets the bare minimum pull out standard.
