Reefing lines & reef point blocks ....

... replacing my reefing lines, I have two, Tartan 40, Main is 400 sf. My reefing system is a single line, complicated system, meaning I have an inside the boom tackle w/two blocks (actually made up with two lines inside the boom) for both 1st and 2nd reef lines. My Spinloc clutch cams are rated 8 to 14mm. I'm thinking New England Ropes 10mm Endura Braid Dyneema core. I figure the 10mm will good on my hands, work well on my winch tailers, and fall in the middle range for the cams. Good choice ? Is there a reason other than personal preference and looking different than the lines it will be next to, to choose Fleck or Solid color ?

Does anyone use small blocks attached w/webbing or long-shaft D shackle on your reef points, either luff or leech ? This seems like a nice idea to reduce friction (and chafe) but just another thing to flap around in the wind and mess up the nice paint job on the boom every time the sail comes down and doesn't immediately get flaked in time.

Thanks, cheers, John
