Under similar circumstances at the time that the tow boat operator asked my draft, if I
knew we would be heading under a bridge with minimal clearance, I think I would have
volunteered the info about vertical clearance and ask the operator if that would be a
problem. If for some reason I forgot to ask this at the time, you can
be sure I'd inform the tow boat operator on the working VHF channel once
the tow was underway and pose the question. Not trying to fault anyone here - I'm just
trying to imagine what I would have done.
