even to retrieve the mast (presumably with sails deployed) from the water would be a Herculean effort. Then to get the wet sails removed and stowed, lines sorted out, boom erected in a manner stable enough to support hoisting the mast (on a boat in motion on the open sea) and hoist the mast leveraged up possibly from a point lower than the midpoint and supported by steel bands to a base that had previously snapped?????

It all sounds rather impossible.
