Problems with a 'back splice'
In Response To: That's the one I have used for years ()
1. Thick, causes interference in the gypsy
2. Weak ... all the transmitted stress is solely in contact with 3 single 'wrapped' strands
2a. Single wrapped strands violate the 'principals' of 'good knots' ..... single wrap/turn around a standing part
2b. 'crown' of splice vulnerable to significant abrasion and wear
