I have some very, very sad news to report.

Sometime Sunday afternoon Ed Huckins, known around here as "sded/J/40" passed away due to a heart attack. Cindy, his wife, called me a few minutes ago to let me know. Cindy was out shopping and when she returned Ed was, she thought, sleeping in his favorite chair so she decided to let him keep on sleeping for a while. When she returned later to wake him up she couldn't get any response. Neither could the paramedics. As most of you know, Ed was a very accomplished person in general and one of the finest gentleman one could ever hope to meet. He was always willing to help but never pushy even though he might have known the answer in the first 1/2 second. He loved his J-40 and cruised Mexico and Southern California at every opportunity. He will be missed by all his friends at Southwestern Yacht Club in San Diego and, I'm sure, here and on some of the other sailing sites he frequented. Please feel free to pass this note on to other sites some of you might know he visited such as the J boat site. Denny and my heart goes out to Cindy as our good friend Ed makes his final sail.
