not so.

an angiogram is not the same thing as angioplasty - although angioplasty happens
at the same time as an angiogram. Sometimes - this happened to me after I had my
myocardial infarction (i.e. heart attack) - while the angiogram is underway they decide
against angioplasty (in my case, the artery wasn't blocked enough for them to put
in stents). An angiogram is basically diagnostic but they can use the same technology
to procede with angioplasty if that's what they determine is needed in the cath lab.
In some cases, the angiogram may tell them that another method of treatment is
needed rather than catherization (e.g. by-pass surgery). If you don't know about
all of this, consider yourself lucky!
