Had one on one of my boats for 11+ years that was still working fine when I sold the boat.

Btw...servicing an overboard discharge pump doesn't HAVE to be more than a slightly messy job if you install a shutoff valve at the tank--or at least a y-VALVE instead of only a wye or tee--and mount the pump above the tank.
