how important is it that the compressor be mounted to the engine ? Mine is not, it is mounted by way of a couple brackets to the fiberglass engine bilge. And I'm not sure it can be mounted to the engine with the limited room & access I have, but I will swap out my older compressor (Sea Frost) for a new one this fall, and now would be the time to make a change. And why should it be mounted to the engine ... because any movements the engine makes should be shared by the compressor, so the engine bearings don't get worn ? Thanks, cheers, John
