Watermaker question for Charlie ...

Hey there Charlie ...

Sounds like things are progressing nicely, hope you guys have a nice trip !

You mentioned on your post about the watermaker you installed ... "We got some advice from the distributor for how to remount the feed pump to dampen the noise further". I'm wondering what that advice was, if you know ? I am looking at one of the Spectra products, I may go with the Cape Horn Extreme model, which has TWO Feed Pumps. I've seen videos of installations and was a little surprised how much noise the Feed Pump makes, I thought they were going to be more quiet, I think the manufacturer says 45db. So, my location will be one where I isolate the Feed Pump, but I'd be curious to hear what your advice was, other than mounting the Pump on glassed in cleats/supports which I can see in your photo, and rubber isolation feet on the mounting bracket ?

And while I'm at it, I think you said you installed the Ventura Deluxe, I think this model does not have the electronic MPC Control, which adds about $2000 to the system. Assuming you have used the unit a few times now, is there any regret on your part not to have spent the extra money for the automatic features ... are you happy doing the operations manually and being more active running your water maker ? I suspect in the long run, having a more robust system with less gadgets & electronic features to go wrong in a marine environment will have it's advantages !

Thanks again Charlie, cheers, John
