after you fall overboard is BY NO MEANS a sure thing. I'd say the probability is far greater that you won't be able to grab the dinghy than you will - especially if the boat is doing anything more than ghosting. You should be wearing a harness with tether, preferably attached to a jackline, when sailing singlehanded. If you're just motoring, well it's not really necessary but....
