I was in the cockpit and Michele inside. Didn't experience any hairs on end or see glowing rigging or anything like that. It was the middle of the afternoon, overcast with light sprinkles and no previous (or post) lightning activity. We got the only strike anywhere that day. There was nothing left of our vhf antenna at all beyond a nub of molten metal on the connector.
Lightning is terrible in Panama in August and September - everyone seems to have a strike story and the marina is full of people repairing from one. There were 4 boats repairing lightning strikes when we got to the marina to refit, and two more came in later. Perfect the rest of the time, though.
