I went up the mast and plugged in our friend's ST60 wind transducer (anemometer) to our ST50 fitting. Back in the cockpit, it appears to be reading more right than we've had for awhile. We checked with our handheld Kestrel and the Kestrel reads about half of what we get on the masthead unit - but the Kestrel is at deck level. Anyone know how much stronger the wind blows 55 feet up in the air than on the ground?
When one of our dock neighbors gets back, maybe we can turn on two systems and compare. But at least it's working. The only question is: is the Raymarine tech right when he says it will read 25% more wind than reality.
Cheers! Jan
