It's different if you have a mooring or a dock slip. You can just go out for a few hours and proceed slowly knowing that you can just go back to your mooring later on in the day. It's different when your cruising and have a destination which you want to move towards each day. For those of us who don't have a home port and mooring/slip to return to each day, we have to proceed at a speed which will get us to our intended destination at a time when we will still find room to anchor. So, it's not 'nonsense' - it's a different reality.
