I saw these at the Boat Show in Miami and got the tour ...

they are cool. Manual and / or auto, they clip to the air insertion valve and when that goes off, so does this. BUT, while a nice idea, somebody has to be around and have their AIS on. What if you fall off in the middle of the night taking a leak and anyone else is asleep. By the time they wake up and realize you are gone, I guess they could find you then, but probably too late.

I'm waiting for someone to come out with something like this, that is also similar to Raymarine's LifeTag system ... something that does both ... with an onboard alarm and a pinpoint where the MOB is on the plotters.

I don't understand why you think this deals with a MOB ... unless someone has an AIS on, and they know someone is in the water, how's it going to save the MOB ? It only works if the folks on board know there is a MOB. or someone nearby sees it and responds.

In the meantime, we both have the small PLB's in the pockets of our lifejackets.

Cheers, John
