As I meant to make clear...If you want to improve the ability of the item to help locate a victim, even if he was alone on a on a boat where the off watch wasn't "up", then if you had a personal device that would activate a DSC signal which indicated what the issue was (MOB) & AIS Activiated & Position & Time...then you'd have not only "awakened" the crew; but, you' also provide an opportunity to send out a VHF alarm to every boat with a DSC within a bunch of miles.

Clearly, it's clear that the only staying with the boat is the number one objective -- but if shit happens, then I think that a device and operating protocol of using your DSC's capablities could make a meaningful difference.
