A friend of mine recently took a job working as an electrician and mechanic at Hinckley. Last Friday we took him up on his offer of a tour. It's fascinating to see how they have adapted elements of custom workmanship to a production schedule. It is also encouraging to see a manufacturing facility so busy. The crews normally work 4, ten hour days but they were going nearly full tilt last Friday and can work Saturdays as well. As we were leaving our friend pointed out the mold for the Sou'wester 42 recently trucked in from Southwest Harbor. This will be the first sailboat that Hinckley has produced in nearly a decade.
