Half way...

Seems to me that it's a middle step. Better than a straight gas motor, but not as good as an electric.

A 4 stroke still has oil in it, can't just be thrown (in any manner) in the aft cabin for storage. AND, some of that crank case oil will find it's way into the water through the exhaust. From the cruising we have done, it would have been a problem finding a ready supply of propane. It can be found, but was always a long walk or cab ride to find it. I never had a problem carrying a gas can, but DID have a problem trying to transport the propane tank!

I am NOT an expert, but it sure seems to me that our 3.5 HP to-hot-2 ran for much more than 10 hours on 5 Gal of fuel. We used a vegetable oil to help out. If I decide to get a newer outboard, at that high a cost for that HP rating, I think I will go electric!
