Why do you think they got screwed? The sold the company to Sextant; and, Sextant apparently folded.

It's tough and tricky levering (i.e. borrowing to buy) up in this environment. The economics of Lats and Atts had to be tricky. They were living off of advertising sales from a troubled and under-capitalized business sector -- the "Marine Industry", and more particularly the sailing sub-sector of that industry.

I just found-out that TOPS IN QUALITY, which made stainless steel stanchions, pulpits, etc. for many years. They were a quality, service oriented business in Ohio. Now, if you need the replacement parts for your boat, you'll have to go searching-around for replacement pieces. In the case of actual manfacturers, they employ people that make things.

In the case of Lats and Atts, its someone that's selling advertising and promotions in the framework of providing information and amusement.

From what I've read about Bob and Jody, they'll be fine. The employees that were left behind, probably will be scrambling in this labor market.
