I have heard of people in dinks getting blown off without gear, or loosing gear and taken out of the harbor. It almost happened to me when I was young, off of Hawaii, next stop Japan.... NOT a fun trip to make in an inflatable!

On Guenevere we have made a small ASB out of a red soft sided insulated lunch cooler. It floats and is water proof. In it I put a small HH VHF, a water bottle, a space blanket, some pocket flares, and assorted other gear that will fit. It always, ALWAYS gets thrown into the dink any time it's not stowed for a passage.
