That's a good idea. Having grown up in small boats, I always worry about getting blown out to sea.

I'm amazed when people have little regard of that potential either in a rowing, sailing, or outboard powered dink of any kind. And it happens close to home more often than many may realize.

In the event we had to abandon ship into the dinghy, we may have time to take quite a bit along, including the sailing rig which is lashed on deck.

You never really know about these things, how you and others will react, until they happen, no matter how well prepared you are.

I think my best safety prevention is how well I know my boat, and my experience, and the limits of the formers, to prevent getting us into too much trouble to start with. That's my main safety system.
