When I did a major refit in NZ a few years ago I pulled the rudder. The post was nice and shiny. It showed some wear but since it is solid I figure it is OK. My also 27 y.o prop shaft is corrosion free. It has some wear at the cutlass bearing and I think it will have to be replaced in a few years.
