The same engine rated for continuous operation would have much lower top end rpms. The stationary engines Tom refers to are much more heavily built, relatively low rpm engines that are rated for continuous operation, but only at something like 1,800 rpms.

- I was told last year that a raw water cooled diesel run in salt water is finished after 10 hours.
