By the way, the large forehatch is for standing in to work the anchor, etc.

Got a monster Lewmar mid range hatch from Defender on clearance a couple years ago, 24" square opening to stand in. Puts me waist high'ish so I am less likely to fall off the foredeck as seems my wont to do these days. The pins aren't as reliable as they once were.

The so called bowsprit design is all about reaching the rode from what I've taken to calling the waist deck. There's actually only about six or seven inches of the 'sprit that hangs over the bow.

Also there'll be two eight inch Herreshoff cleats, one either side of the foredeck that I can reach from the waist deck and/or from the dock without imperiling my dryness too much.

At least that's the theory.....
