Those poor bastards never saw their cathedral project completed in it's entirety. Most of the big ones took generations, lives used up, just like the bricks, to build. But I get satisfaction seeing the individual skilled hands in the work, I believe I can those hands in the details, and I applaud those builders. And knowing the egotist that designed and commissioned some of the great cathedrals, rarely saw them competed either. gives me a good feeling.
I think that's what I read between the lines in Bobs eulogy. That his life was a series of completed projects, but the projects never really stopped for a guy like Bob.
As for sailing, I don't see how you can build a big sailboat and put off sailing for when it is complete. If you're a sailor, I think you have to sail. I hope if he was a sailor, he got his sailing in.
