There was another one in Bucks Harbor this season.

I was surprised to see it allowed on a mooring there. Then again, I don't know if many harbors have restrictions. We were considering spending the night on a mooring. But the owner on the houseboat fired up his generator, and that made up our mind to move on.

I'm not so bothered by JO Browns houseboat in Perry Creek, it was quiet and used no generator when I was there. I'm more bothered by the fact that it was(probably still is) moored there for the entire season. I think Perry Creek is too precious a place, especially way up where the houseboat moored, to claim a large piece of it for yourself for the whole season. I guess that's what bothers me about destination moorings as well.

Still, I don't see houseboats as much of a trend here, yet. JO Brown has the facilities to move the houseboat and haul or maintain for the winter. Most would have to deal with that themselves and that could be a problem unless they're small shanty boat type craft.
