That's how I avoided it on a Beach Cat...

After I learned a bit... but I wonder if the loads are too great to do this quickly on a big cat like that... I mean seems silly, that one can't "blow the main." But perhaps the loads are so high that there are many blocks and it simply takes too long to get that much line moving quickly.

Even on a tiny Prindle 16, the mainsheet was a 6:1. I wonder what sort of arrangement Oracle has. Of course this being Oracle, they should have known this was going to happen. Reminds me of the scene in Thomas Crown Affair.
