You're kidding, right? Hell, that might have been WISE...

...and, "Wisdom" is not something often associated with myself, and decisions having financial implications... (grin)

Actually, a surprising number of people around here went without it. It IS already quite expensive, after all... For a modest little place like mine, I simply didn't think it was worth it, my house was originally built in '54, and has never come remotely CLOSE to getting water inside... Even my outside guest room, a few feet lower than the main house itself, has never come within a foot of getting wet...

Bottom line is, I've still suffered fairly minimal damage overall... And, if I factor in what I would have been paying for flood insurance all those years, I'll still come out comfortably ahead anyway - or at the very worst, very close to breaking even...

I'll still consider/hope this to be a once in a lifetime event, and will continue to due without flood insurance in the future, probably... Really, my place just isn't worth it - there ARE some virtues to 'modesty' in terms of homes, boats, and automobiles, after all... And one of those is the luxury to avoid becoming "insurance poor"... (grin)
