If you use any of the standard chart programs, like Navionics, Maptech, etc and try to follow them at night or blindly then yes you'll end up on the rocks. However there are some charts created from the Bauhaus Panama guide that work as good or better then charts from the US. This is one guy that has combined Sat Images, Aerial images and his own soundings to create the charts for his guide. Some intrepid cruiser converted them to digital formats and then they've been usable in computer chart nav programs and have been a bog advantage to those cruising the area.
