In most storms they would have been turning NE but that one didn't. Hindsight is always 20/20 but had that been a normal storm his strategy would have worked. I hope I wouldn't have gone to sea in those circumstances but considering how hurricanes move in the Northern Hemisphere and in the N Latitudes it at least makes sense the move he was making.

I'm sorry of the loss of that ship, it was a cool one and I had seen it in St. Pete Florida off and on for years. And of course the loss of life is always a tragedy.
