The only thing different from my life and a country song

is that I don't have a dog. If I did it would have been run over and died in Jody's arms. Well, I don't have a pick up truck either but other then that we've had a pretty bad few months. It all started while we were beating our way up the coast from Cabo in June. We had wind on the nose from La Paz all the way to Cabo. The port was closed due to the G-4 summit meeting so we had to keep going and the wind clocked right with us. Right on the nose for the next 700 miles. Three of the legs were in the 30 knot range. About half way up our renters called to say that they were moving out after 7 years. We said to our selves that we should move in and get into the commuter cruising mode for a while. Spend some time in San Diego and the season on the boat. OK, our renters move out and we spend the next 2 months getting the contractors lined up and the permits from the condo association for the work. It took two months of jerking us around before we finely got the go ahead to start the remodel. We added a fireplace, new carpet, new floor tile, tile wains coatings in the baths, crown molding throughout and on and on. We were kind of camping between the condo and the boat but when they started the actual work we moved back onto the boat. That's when I noticed the shaft log starting to leak. We hauled out Brendon on the day that we were able to move into our place after all the work was completed. That cost us a trip up to northern California to see our sun and grand daughters for Thanksgiving. We were glad that we had found the problem on Brendon prior to any really disastrous outcome so that was a good thing. Then, just a couple of days after we got her back into the water we got a call from our association building manager that some jerk on the 4th floor (we live in a high rise in down town San Diego)was washing out his wet suit and left the water running in the bathtub. The water over flowed, ran down into and through the unit above us, down through our unit and the unit below right into the underground parking structure. We had been moved into our brand new remodel less then 11 days. Now, as I sit here back on Brendon, yet again for another month, the ceilings in both the bedrooms have been taken out, all of the new crown molding is gone, all of the trim and baseboards are gone the brand new carpet has been pulled back and the pad is gone. There are dehumidifiers and heaters all over the place and all of the brand new furniture is getting cooked by the 100 degree temperature. Now it's starting to rain and our Christmas plans are, well, you get the idea.... Boy, it was a lot simpler living aboard, that's for sure. I don't know about this dirt dwelling. It's going to take some getting used to.
