Looks like things are getting worse quickly. We are now down about 2 feet and continue to drop. Our club lift well has about 4 1/2' of water. They did a bit of investigating and found that what we had hoped was a thick layer of mud was actually a thin layer of mud over solid shale, soooo it looks like shallow draft sail and powerboats unless things really turn around. I also did some investigating and found that our Islander is actually different than the broker billed it when we bought it. Turns out we have a limited production model only made for about four years. It is an Islander Bahama that has a 5'6" keel instead of the "standard" model that draws only 5'. I contacted the marina next door, explained the dilema and they said that if we can get the boat over there via the yard trailer they would take care of launching it (for a fee, but that's OK). They also said I could used their mast crane if we can get the stick next door. We will also be unable to get our club's fuel dock and pumpout facilites so woill have to go elsewhere....not a showstopper, just not convenient. Our slip has 8'+ of water so is not an issue.
The other alternatives are to leave the boat sit on the stands until the water comes up, sell it, or move to another marina or yacht club. I sure would prefer not to do any of those. There are currently two of the deeper draft boats for sale. the owners decided they didn't want to deal with it any more.
