The 50mm prime is a great lens - especially the f1.4 variety. I'm a Pentax guy, and have two from my old film days - a Super-Takumar and a SMC Takumar. I tried these on my Pentax DSLR (ist DS) using an adapter ring, and was so happy with the results that I bought another - the SMC Pentax-A (which fits the camera without using an adapter ring). I particularly like the 1.4 for a) it's ability to shoot in impossible light situations, and b) shoot at 1.4 and ONLY your subject is in focus. Neat lenses. Wish I could afford the Schneider, but I haven't used one and don't see how it can be much better than the SMC.
