It's 1/2 because used up the 3/8" and didn't want to buy another sheet. The H.Mahog trim is 5/8" thick by deeper. The deeper still has room to be trimmed back a bit. The shape is about having room to rock the water pump handle without hitting the back of my hand on a sharp corner. I may have added a mite of uh, panache.
But I gotta say, bottom is 14' long by 6' max beam with both pram ends so this boat can take some weight, though of course I always prefer low as possible. The counters are not very tall, cooking is done sitting down which I prefer due to the four foot headroom in that forecabin...... By not installing a centeboard case and board, there is 250 fewer pounds than otherwise might be. I have to make part of that up with moveable lead ballast. You know the rest in stores for traveling. I'll be using plastic tubs for under bunk storage in lieu of small bulkheads with drawers or the opening locker for pot(s) and pan(s).
I need to fabricate something suitable for silverware but haven't considered it yet.
