I was visiting a vendor, manufacturer of high powered amplifiers. They were showing me one of their designs, opened it up and there was that overwhelming smell of vinegar. I mentioned my concern with the acetic acid outgasing, causing corrosion and damaging solder joints but they didn't seem to know anything about it. I like Dow Corning 3145 RTV for use around electronics but there are a lot of other good ones.
