Really tight window,,, addition

I did the trip from Panama to Florida but took 3 years to do it.

Since the wind comes from the North of East you need to go North, around the bend past Roatan and up past Belize. From there pass through the gap west of Cuba, keep going directly North (150 to 200 miles) even though you think you should go around Cuba and Northeast. The current goes up toward Texas before going East so you'll be fighting a current for 3 days if you don't. Make the transition from the northward current to where it comes out and catch it going East. Once you get to the Dry Torguas pick your way to St. Pete.

Besides the wind direction the current is a big issue. You need to use the current. If you don't you'll be sorry.

If you take that route you can get fuel at Conception Island Columbia and Isla Mojeres Mexico as well as Roatan and Belize. Be sure to stop in the Vivarillos on your way. It's a great spot to take an overnight stop as it's on the way and uninhabited.

I believe the above course is the accepted one from Panama to Florida. Of course,,,,, as always check whatever I say. I'm wrong a lot.
