quite often bogus info

I was returning from the Abacos and decided with the weather to go in at Cape Canaveral. While we were approaching I was watching the AIS signals and came upon a target that was (recollection guessing here) it was listed as being 220 feet long and 8 feet wide. Hmmm? I kept wondering what it was. When I approached it I found it was some sort of landing craft and in reality was about 100 feet long and 25 feet wide. The name was also completely different. On the AIS it had a normal simple boat name and on the vessel it was a military identification.

Yeah, it was on AIS but in a stealth mode as far as info was concerned. I guess you could put in the AIS info that your vessel was 200 feet instead of 40 which would throw the bad guys off but that would be dangerous for other vessels.
