And I believe they intend to supply water taxi service to anyone, member or not(I hope that's the case in that it would be a town service unlike YC's, like Camden, that have a launch service for members only).
I've never heard of any interest in a town provided launch service in Rockland. I doubt there would be much interest from the merchants or the town to come up with funds to subsidize it. Rockland isn't a tourist supported harbor like Annapolis or Marblehead.
It's a working harbor for the fishing community, some industrial usage(seaweed processing), the state ferry service to the islands, CG base, ship yards and a few marinas.
One day that may change but for now, Rockland Yacht Club is trying to help grow it's membership by adding services to their members. I suspect with their small membership, the price they're setting is to eliminate subsidizing their launch service through membership dues.
