I remember vividly that time. Wood Century runabouts ruled Barnegat Bay where I spent a lot of summer days in the early 60's. Then one day, the glass Century came roaring in. I think the Penguin sailboat went glass, soon the Lightning.
Everybody was sooo smitten with the new Molded Fiber Glass(another new glass motorboat manufacturer) that wood suddenly, died.
We know wood didn't end all together, but for an instant in the early 60's, Fiberglass and Formica were all that mattered.
