They made a boat they called the super sailfish in FRP as well as the Sunfish. Think the Sunfish may have sold so well because of the greater comfort of the footwell that it eventually pushed the sailfish out of production.
My 1958 kit boat came with a cotton sail. Tip the boat over and get the sail wet and they were a real bear to keep upright with all the weight of the water in the sail. Dacron was/is such a blessing. Capsized mine once and it went inverted with the mast sticking in the mud. Sailed it for 3 more years with a brown stain on the peak.
