and shortening the run wasn't an option. In my installation the wires need to run aft within the amas to the aft cross-beam, into the main hull near the aft end of the cockpit, then beneath the cockpit through the engine room and companionway-bulkhead to the main breaker panel which is beneath the companionway.
The run is probably about 40-50 cable-feet round-trip and can't be thicker than 16 or 18 gauge. At one point it's run through a hollow stainless bolt.
