It was actually copied from the very successful Catalina 22. The owner's manual was very specific though, it said to never use the C25 swing keel in salt or brackish water, they just never said why. I guess salt water can accelerate the corrosion and the subsequent keel drop?

As new owners and not knowing any better, we loved the boat for the ability to crank the keel up in skinny water. After we learned about such things, we did an "oh shit" and sold it to another guy who I beieve still has it.
