Deep reaching with the genoa on Saturday; wind reading is apparent. Boat speed 9.3 wind 10.7, screecher would take it up a notch, but then I'd have to get off my butt and do some work....

I did end up deploying the screecher, and sure enough the apparent wind soon rose to 13 with boat speed in the ~10/11 ranges. Then a thunderstorm I was tracking on weather radar headed in our direction and I took it down again (and stuffed it in the ama) as a prudent measure. Then, as GOBI would dictate, the storm missed us and wind died down and we sailed around 6-7-8 knots the rest of the day. (I only offer once to pick up the dinner check, and only raise a light air sail once a day). Had I left that sail deployed I'm sure the storm would have run right into us.
