I've sailed with friends who prefer course up and I find it disconcerting. First, I learned on paper charts, that are always north up, but even more than this, I don't like the chart moving when I look at it. The north-up gives me a steady reference point that looks the same each time I look at it.

Now, I have a separate radar that is course-up of course. I'd never really thought about it before, but I suppose this is a good reason to have separate displays for the chart plotter and the radar.
